Derek Hough, the renowned dancer and judge of “Dancing with the Stars”, had a tearful moment at the 2024 Emmy Awards, as he dedicated his win to his wife, Hayley Erbert, who underwent a life-saving skull surgery.

Hough won the award for Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming for his work on the popular dance competition show. He thanked his fellow nominees, his family, and his colleagues, but he reserved a special message for his wife, who was recovering at home.

“You are my rock, my inspiration, my everything. I love you so much, and I can’t wait to see you again. You are the most beautiful person I know, inside and out. This is for you, baby,” he said, holding the trophy and wiping his eyes.

Erbert, who is also a dancer and has appeared on “Dancing with the Stars” as a troupe member, had a rare condition that caused a buildup of fluid in her brain. She had to undergo a delicate surgery to drain the fluid and relieve the pressure on her skull.

Hough revealed the news on his Instagram account, where he posted a photo of him and Erbert holding hands in the hospital. He wrote, “She’s the strongest person I know, and I’m so proud of her. She’s doing great, and we’re hoping for a speedy recovery. Thank you for all your prayers and support. We love you all.”

Hough and Erbert have been married since 2022, after dating for six years. They met on the set of “Dancing with the Stars”, where they were paired as partners in season 23. They have since become one of the most beloved couples in the dance world, and have shared their love and passion for dancing on various platforms, including their YouTube channel and their live tour.
