In a startling incident that has garnered significant attention online, rap superstar Nicki Minaj was detained by Dutch authorities on Saturday over allegations of drug possession. The incident, partially live-streamed by Minaj herself, unfolded at an airport in Amsterdam and has since sparked widespread discussion on social media.

The 41-year-old Grammy nominee was confronted by police who claimed she was carrying drugs. Minaj, who is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, vehemently denied the allegations and demanded legal representation. "I’m not going in there. I need a lawyer present," she insisted in the Instagram Live video.

Despite her protests, Minaj was eventually seen stepping into a police vehicle. She expressed concern about missing her scheduled concert in Manchester, UK, but was assured by an officer that efforts would be made to get her to the show as soon as possible.

Amsterdam permits individuals to carry up to 5 grams of cannabis legally, but Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that authorities claimed to have found marijuana in her bags and required additional personnel to weigh the pre-rolls. "Now they said they found weed & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls," she tweeted. Minaj also accused security of taking her bags without her consent, asserting that the pre-rolls belonged to her security team. "Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to him," she posted.

An Instagram video showed an official explaining that all of her bags needed to be searched, prompting Minaj to question the thoroughness of the initial check conducted before her flight. The officer indicated that a random check had been done but now a full search was warranted.

Minaj's latest post on X indicated that she had been taken to a police precinct to make a statement about her security team. "Now they said I have to go 5 mins away to make a statement about my security to the police precinct," she wrote.

It remains unclear if Minaj will face any legal consequences or if other substances were discovered in her possession. Page Six reached out to Minaj's representatives and Amsterdam authorities for further comments but had not received a response by the time of publication.

As the situation develops, fans and followers of Minaj are eagerly awaiting more updates. The rapper's next performance in Manchester hangs in the balance, with many hoping she will be able to continue her tour as planned.
