Tensions within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance have come to the fore as Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi issued a scathing rebuke against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for alleged attempts to undermine his influence. The rift between the two prominent figures underscores simmering discord within the political coalition.

Sudi's remarks, delivered during a public address in Ainabkoi Constituency, were a direct response to Gachagua's accusations that certain Rift Valley leaders were conspiring to derail his presidential aspirations for 2032. Gachagua, speaking in Kesses Constituency, criticized Sudi for purportedly interfering with the duties of other elected officials.

In a defiant retort, Sudi asserted the rights of elected leaders to traverse the country and support party leaders beyond the confines of their respective constituencies. He emphasized that every member of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance had played a pivotal role in securing the victory of President William Ruto in the 2022 elections, demanding mutual respect among coalition members.

"We are all disciples of President William Ruto. Each of us has the authority to traverse the nation. Everyone contributed to the Kenya Kwanza Government. Let's treat each other with respect. I will not be intimidated by threats. I received this mandate from Ruto himself, who is now focused on national matters," remarked Sudi.

The Kapseret legislator urged Gachagua to refrain from marginalizing junior leaders and warned against employing intimidation tactics. Sudi's remarks reflect a deepening schism within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, raising questions about the coalition's unity and cohesion ahead of future political endeavors.

Meanwhile, Gachagua vehemently denied any rift with President Ruto, emphasizing their collaborative partnership characterized by mutual respect and trust. During a church service in Kesses, Gachagua underscored President Ruto's confidence in him, highlighting the significant responsibilities entrusted to him within the administration.

As the political landscape in Kenya continues to evolve, the rift between Sudi and Gachagua serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges facing political alliances. With the 2027 elections looming on the horizon, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance must navigate internal discord to present a united front and effectively pursue its political objectives.
