West Derby is a suburban community on the outskirts of Liverpool, home to the famous Alder Hey Children's Hospital, one of the largest of its kind in the UK, on Eaton Road.

The area once had a Motte and Bailey castle, which was reported to be in ruins by 1327 and has now disappeared.
