Kirk Cousins Shares His Thoughts on the Chiefs-Bills AFC Championship Game

The NFL playoffs are heating up, and while Kirk Cousins is not among the quarterbacks vying for a spot in the Super Bowl, he is still following the action closely. The Minnesota Vikings star, who led his team to a 9-8 record this season, revealed his interest in the upcoming AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Cousins expressed his admiration for both teams and their quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. He also shared his insight on how the game could unfold, given the different circumstances that each team faces.

“This will be an interesting matchup because the Chiefs haven’t played many road games in the playoffs lately,” Cousins said on Wednesday, January 17, while promoting his partnership with Tostitos. “They’ve had such great seasons, they tend to always be at home, so going on the road into a tough environment will probably be another cold game for both teams.”

The Chiefs, who are the defending Super Bowl champions, have won 24 of their last 25 games, including the playoffs. They have also won their last seven games against the Bills, dating back to 2010. However, they will have to overcome some challenges, such as the uncertainty of Mahomes’ health after he suffered a concussion in the divisional round, and the pressure of repeating as champions.

The Bills, on the other hand, are enjoying their best season in decades, as they won their first division title since 1995 and their first playoff game since 1995. They have also won their last eight games, scoring at least 26 points in each of them. Allen, who is in his third year, has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, throwing for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns, while adding 421 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

Cousins, who has faced both Mahomes and Allen in his career, praised their abilities and their leadership. He said that Mahomes is “a special talent” who can make plays with his arm and his legs, and that Allen is “a big, strong guy” who can “throw the ball a mile” and “run people over”.

He also said that both teams have “a lot of weapons” on offense, such as Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Stefon Diggs, and Cole Beasley, and that both defenses are “very capable” of making stops and creating turnovers.

Cousins, who is a fan of the game and enjoys watching other quarterbacks, said that he is looking forward to seeing how the game plays out, and that he expects a close and competitive contest.

“I think it’s going to be a great game, a lot of fun to watch,” he said. “I think it’s going to come down to the wire, and whoever makes the most plays in the fourth quarter will win the game.”

Cousins, who signed a two-year, $66 million contract extension with the Vikings last March, said that he is also focused on improving his own game and helping his team get back to the playoffs next season. He said that he is grateful for the opportunity to play in the NFL, and that he is always looking for ways to get better.

“I love the game, I love competing, I love being a part of a team,” he said. “I’m always trying to learn from other players, from other coaches, from other situations, and just try to grow as a player and as a person.”

Cousins, who is also a husband and a father of two, said that he is enjoying his offseason with his family, and that he is excited to partner with Tostitos, the official chip and dip of the NFL, to celebrate the playoffs and the Super Bowl. He said that he likes to snack on Tostitos chips and salsa while watching the games, and that he encourages fans to do the same.

“Tostitos is a great brand, a great product, and a great partner,” he said. “They make the game more fun, more enjoyable, and more delicious. I think fans will love their chips and dips, and I hope they have a great time watching the playoffs and the Super Bowl.”
