The film will also explore the personal and professional challenges that Jackson faced, including the allegations of child sexual abuse that tarnished his reputation.
Jaafar Jackson is the second-youngest son of Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s older brother and former bandmate. He has previously released music as a solo artist, and has expressed his admiration and love for his uncle. In a social media post announcing his casting, he said he was “humbled and honored” to play the role of Michael Jackson.
The film has the support of the Michael Jackson estate, as well as his mother Katherine Jackson, who said that Jaafar “embodies” her son. “It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers,” she said in a statement.
