Vihiga, Kenya – Laura Cathy Otieno, an 18-year-old former student of Mudavadi Girls High School, has gone missing after visiting her alma mater to complete clearance procedures. The incident, which has left her family and community in distress, occurred on May 28, 2024.
Laura had traveled to Vihiga County from her home in Nairobi to handle several errands, including picking up her national ID from Kisumu, in preparation for her admission to Kenyatta University. According to her mother, Linda Jackline Oyugi, Laura was last seen in Majengo town boarding a matatu to Kisumu, but she never reached her destination.
Before her disappearance, Laura spent the night at a former teacher's house and was dropped off by a motorcycle rider at Majengo early in the morning. Her phone went unanswered and eventually switched off around 11:30 am.
The missing person's case has been reported at Mbale Police Station under OB number 33/28/05/2024. Laura was last seen wearing a black skirt and a white pullover. Her parents, Linda and George Otieno, are appealing to the public for any information on Laura's whereabouts.
