Sevilla, Spain - Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Erik Lamela will be leaving Sevilla as a free agent after his contract expires on June 30, marking the end of a three-year stint at the LaLiga club. Lamela, 32, joined Sevilla in 2021 after spending eight years at Tottenham, where he made 257 appearances and scored 37 goals.

During his time with Sevilla, the Argentine international played a pivotal role in the club's Europa League victory in 2023, helping them secure their seventh title in the competition. Despite his contributions, Lamela's last season was marred by injuries, limiting him to just 19 appearances as Sevilla finished 14th in LaLiga.

"Like all farewells, it's a little sad at the moment—a moment that a player never expects—but I understand as a great professional that these kinds of moments come and that the cycles end," Lamela said in a video message on Sevilla's website. "When we won the Europa League, it was what made this club enter my heart. I will never forget it and I am happy to be able to give back at least a little of what this club gave me. Thank you."

Lamela's departure is part of a broader trend at Sevilla, which has seen significant changes and challenges in recent seasons. As the club looks to rebuild and improve its standing in LaLiga, Lamela's exit marks the end of a memorable chapter for both the player and the club.
